The Herald was the 7th celestial monarch, reigning during the years 3000-3500. Her rule was preceded by that of the Unnatural and succeeded by the Merciful.
The Herald was the composer of a mysterious melody named 'The Song of Sight,' which is now one of many heirlooms passed down from monarch to monarch.
History[]
During her reign, war raged between the humans, monsters, and winged, with the fighting eventually becoming so chaotic as for "corruption (...) to reach the moon".
Seeking wisdom for a means to end the fighting, the Herald appears to have performed a ritual of sorts using the Song of Sight and the exhumed remains of her predecessor. In the process, she "tore holes in her body". As a result, the Herald was granted the vision of a guide, able to see all possible futures. Among them, the Herald was able to distinguish the best possible timeline, eventually allowing her to bring peace to the worlds.
Personality[]
The Herald was noted to be distinctly aloof and independent as a result of her future vision. As a result, the Herald did not choose to take a winged companion, as she trusted no one but herself in important matters.
Trivia[]
- During her era, the moon was purple-colored and nighttime was called the "Lullaby Twilight".
- The Herald has a very clear music theme: her wings resemble the keys of a piano, her clothes resemble opera attire, and her horn is intricately curved to resemble a treble clef.
- The ritual involving the Song of Sight apparently involved the desecration of the Unnatural's grave. Given that the body parts of Celestials seem to hold innate power, it is likely she used it to strengthen the effects of the ritual.
- Her conduct in life serves as the inspiration for Prof. Zachery Lumen's studies on the nature of the soul.
