Oceanfalls Wiki

Nadine Virgo is a winged who served as one of the 12 Archangels of the Zodiac, assigned with the role of Caregiver. However, she had cut her ties with the group by the events of Oceanfalls.

Her given title is the Angel of Propagation.

She is also the adoptive mother of Meimona.

Currently, little is known about her. She gave Meimona her angelic title because "she needed a bit of good fortune".

Nadine has long blonde hair fashioned into a side-braid, stylized to resemble an ear of wheat. Her choppy short bangs resemble those of her adopted daughter.

She appears to be very compassionate, a trait that goes against the innate nature of the winged. Her kindness leads her to adopt young winged and spare them from a fate of death at the hands of the Collapsers. This was the reason she adopted Meimona moments after the child fell from the stars, although the event was also influenced by Meimona's luck.

Within the Zodiac, she is the target of a one-sided enmity with by Lunalleya, and has a one-sided attachment with Merkurius.

As Meimona's adoptive mother, she has cared for her a great deal, and was the one to give Meimona her name and angelic title. She seems to worry about her daughter's wellbeing quite a bit, enough for Mei to keep it in consideration when she leaves for the human world.

  • Nadine is a French variant of Nadia, it being a diminutive of the Slavic Nadéžda. It is commonly used in Arabic communities and may often mean نادين 'Admonitory/Messenger', 'Showerer of blessings', or 'hope.'
  • Like most winged, Nadine takes her surname from the constellation she was born from, in this case Virgo, the maiden.
    • In Babylonian astronomy, the constellation Virgo is associated with the Shala, goddess of weather and agriculture. When the concept of the Zodiac later spread to Greece, Virgo was then associated with Demeter, grain mother and goddess of the harvest.

  • This is the first official mention of her constellation and surname.
  • In astrology, Virgo is associated with the wheat harvest and maternity.
  • In {s} Icicle Bay Getaway, examining the zodiac book prompts Meimona to mention having no contact with the Zodiac, which implies that Nadine is not part of the Zodiac anymore.
  • In the same walkaround, Meimona mentions having a family and siblings multiple times, citing some "baby siblings" and at least one older sister. This implies that Nadine has adopted winged children both before and after taking in Meimona.
