Maya Elwyn was a human who lived in the Monster World during the Decade of Peace. She is the mother of Aria Elwyn.
She is said to have passed away in the last war between monsters and humans. Aria seems to have fond memories of her mother, making sure to visit Maya's grave whenever she can, and keeping a picture of them both together by her bedside.
